Ski Insurance

Most travellers are covered for emergency treatment outside their home country, but this doesn't include many aspects related to skiing. Most areas will require lost or injured skiers to pay for their own search and rescue, which can quickly add up. Onsite medical treatment at ski resorts is often private as well, meaning it won't be handled under EU healthcare arrangements between countries.

If you plan to ski off-piste, make sure your ski insurance policy covers it for your ability level. It should also cover reimbursement if you are unable to ski due to slope conditions, weather, poor snow, or illness. Liability insurance is important in case you cause injury or damage to another person or their equipment. The amount of coverage you need depends on the length of your holiday, your ability, your plans, and your ability to pay out-of-pocket should you be confronted with an injury or problem. And if you ski often, make sure to ask if you can receive a discount on an extended policy.
