Utilise Home Insurance Comparisons when Retrofitting Homes

An expert in the field of retrofitting households has expressed that in addition to saving large amounts of money on energy bills, consumers can also gain financial advantages by using home insurance comparisons to seek out cheaper deals. As the British government sets out plans to reduce carbon emissions over the next 40 years, whatgreenhome.com's Gordon Miller explained that substantial savings can be made on both bills and insurance premiums.

The issue of reducing carbon emissions is widely acknowledge, with governments across the world drawing up plans to reduce effects before irreparable damage is done to the earth. With Britain looking to cut 80per cent of CO2 by 2050, Mr Miller said that homeowners can not only help the environment, but save money too. "The estimates are that around 75 per cent of the existing housing stock will still be around by 2050. Clearly retrofitting and bringing the existing homes up to speed is absolutely critical," he explained adding that over recent years increasing numbers of people have benefitted from financial savings in retrofitting homes.

Whilst initial costs of using renewable technologies including solar panels, ground heating systems and other energy saving advances can often be very costly, Mr Miller said that there seemed to be a general air of willingness by consumers to save over the long term and become greener. And he added that even in the current financial difficulties, initial outgoings could result in cheaper bills and cuts in policy premiums if individuals used home insurance comparisons to make extra savings on newly updated residences.
