Sainsbury's home insurance provider launches pet cover option
A new pet insurance product has been unveiled by Sainsbury's, which also provides Sainsbury's home insurance.
According to the home insurance for buy to let supplier, the new offer's £3,000 of vet fees cover is not provided by 25 per cent of policies currently on the market.
Sainsbury's insurance policy's £3,000 worth of dental cover is likewise not provided by 62 per cent of policies for dogs - and 63 per cent of those for cats.
Neal Devine, Sainsbury's pet insurance manager, said: "With the cost of treatments and vets' fees rising, it's now more important than ever to have pet insurance. However, worryingly as a result of the current economic climate we estimate that as many as one million pets could see their cover cut back or taken away as their owners look to reduce their insurance bills."
As well as pet cover, the supermarket's financial services arm also offers Sainsbury's home insurance.
