Sainsbury's home insurance launches pet offer
The provider of Sainsbury's home insurance unveiled a new pet cover discount today.
Customers who buy pet insurance online from the rented home insurance provider are to receive a 15 per cent price cut.
The first three months of these new policies will also be offered for free, Sainsbury's home insurance said.
Pet owners are already facing rising vet prices, which has made many think twice about taking out pet insurance.
This trend seems set to continue, with the release of the latest Consumer Price Index - the government's inflation benchmark.
It showed a rate of 4.7 per cent for last month, up 0.3 per cent on the previous reading and far exceeding the target rate of two per cent.
Moreover, analysts foresee a rise in inflation to five per cent before the year's end - boosting the vet's bills still further.
Neal Devine at Sainsbury's said: "We believe pet insurance is vital but as many people tighten their belts it can be easily overlooked. We don't want people to fall foul of this false economy and have therefore come up with an offer that will not only give people an immediate saving, when they buy online, but also one to look forward to in year two, giving them peace of mind and a double-saving."
The offer is available immediately
